Preparing the Loom

The loom is set up with tightly stretched warp threads that form the foundation of the textile. Natural fibers, often wool or cotton, are carefully prepared before weaving begins.

Weaving the Weft

The weft thread is passed over and under the warp to build the fabric’s pattern. Each movement creates rhythm, texture, and the unique character of the weave.

Finishing the Textile

Once removed from the loom, the fabric is tied, trimmed, and softened by hand. The final touch reveals a finished piece rich in craftsmanship and soul.

Skilled Berber hands craft each rug with heartfelt artistry

Danielle Donker, a Dutch native, developed a passion for global cultures and artisanal crafts through her family's eclectic collections and her own extensive travels. This journey led her to settle in Morocco's Ourika Valley, where she founded Beyond Marrakech, an online boutique offering authentic Moroccan textiles to a worldwide audience.
